The UK Government has announced that its Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) will remain open until 31 March 2021.

Alongside our previous notes on the UK Government schemes, here are some summary guidance points (further details can be found via the HMRC website):

  • For those employees that are furloughed, 80% of usual salary for hours not worked up to a maximum of £2,500 a month will be paid by the UK Government. This percentage will be reviewed for February and March 2021.
  • Employers can claim even if they have not previously used the CJRS.
  • The scheme continues to be flexible, therefore employees may work part time.
  • Employees employed and on payroll on 23 September 2020 who were made redundant or stopped working after that date may be re-employed and claimed for.
